    Day 2 - Phnom Penh City Tour

    Phnom Penh was founded in the 14th century and has long been a vital trading hub at the confluence of three rivers: the Mekong, Tonle Sap and Bassac. Start the day learning about the Khmer Rouge and Cambodia’s recent history on a guided tour of the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the notorious Choeung Ek “Killing Fields.” Our cultural tour continues as we visit the National Museum—an excellent introduction into ancient Khmer art and civilization, and the Royal Palace which is home to the royal family and the opulent silver pagoda.

    Day 3 - Phnom Penh – Kampong Cham – Kampong Thom

    Today, we leave the bustle of the big city on a drive through Cambodia’s beautiful countryside and largest rubber producing region on our way to Kampong Cham. Explore this quaint colonial town and see the Wat Nokor Pagoda which is an 11th century Mahayana Buddhist shrine and is home to a large reclining Buddha as well as many carved Buddha images. We continue on our journey to Kampong Thom in the afternoonn and stop along the way at Phnom Pros and Phnom Srei. Arrive in Kampong Thom and check in at the hotel. Spend the late afternoon on a pleasant walking tour through some nearby villages and climb the 980 steps to the top of Phnom Santuk for a superb sunset view.

    Day 4 - Kampong Thom – Siem Reap

    Spend the morning to explore the ancient temples around Kampong Thom before continuing on our way to Siem Reap. Kampong Thom is home to Cambodia’s most impressive group of pre-Angkorian monuments. Here, we will visit the ancient temple complex- Sambor Prei Kuk, which is situated just north of the town. The main temples are divided into three complexes, all dedicated to Shiva. Enjoy the serene atmosphere as you wander through these 7th century brick monuments, artfully scattered about the jungle. In the afternoon, we continue on our journey to Siem Reap (147km, 2hrs drive), the gateway into the legendary Angkor temples. Arrive in Siem Reap in the late afternoon.

    Day 5 - Siem Reap – Angkor Temples

    Enjoy an entire day dedicated to discover the mysterious Angkor temples. Wake up before dawn and take a tuk-tuk ride to visit the jungle-entwined temple, Ta Prohm. Sunrise is one of the most beautiful and haunting times to visit the temples whose ancient sandstone blocks are gilded gold by the early morning rays. Return to the hotel for breakfast then set back out on a full day temple tour. Startwith the magnificent Angkor Wat— the largest Khmer temple and finest example of Angkorian art and architecture. We then proceed to Angkor Thom’s imposing South Gate, topped with the four serenely smiling faces of Avalokiteshvara. Next, visit Bayon temple, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King.

    Day 6 - Siem Reap – Angkor Temples – Floating Village

    Enjoy the stunning temples in the Angkor Archeological Park before driving to the Cambodia’s largest natural body of water, Tonle Sap Lake. After breakfast at the hotel, travel by car to Banteay Srei which is home to Angkor’s finest stone carvings, followed by Preah Khan (Sacred Sword)- one of Angkor’s largest temples, constructed in the 12th century by Jayavarman VII. In the afternoon, head out of town and embark on a short cruise along Tonle Sap Lake and visit the local floating villages. Drive to the Angkor Archeological Park in the evening to watch the sunset from the foot of Phnom Krohm Mountain.

    Day 7 - Siem Reap – Koh Ker – Beng Mealea – Siem Reap

    This morning, we travel to Koh Ker. Here, we will discover the long abandoned temples in the forests of northern Cambodia. It is also known as Chok Gargyar. This region is served as the capital of Jayavarman IV until his son and successor, Harshavarman I, moved the capital back to Angkor. There are more than 30 major structures and archeologists believe that there may have been as many as 100 minor sacred buildings in the region. In the afternoon, drive back to Siem Reap, stop en route to visit the remote and jungle-covered Beng Mealea temple.

    Day 8 - Siem Reap – Battambang

    Today, we travel by car to Battambang which is the Cambodia’s second largest city. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel then drive to Battambang, arriving in the afternoon. Check in at your hotel then enjoy an orienting walking tour through the city’s bustling boulevards lined with quaint French colonial buildings. Next, visit some of Battambang’s signature hilltop temples as well as the infamous cave, Phnom Sampov which is used as an execution field under the Khmer Rouge. Take a relaxing 30min ride on the Bamboo train before returning to your hotel.

    Day 9 - Battambang

    Spend the day to discover Battambang and its surrounding countryside. After breakfast, we start our day visiting the local marketplace, then head out of town to visit surrounding Angkorian and post-Angkorian temples, including Wat Ek and Wat Toul Bassaet. After lunch,  climb Phnom Sampov, explore the Bat Cave and visit some local Khmer Villages. Return to Battambang in the evening.

    Day 10 - Battambang – Phnom Penh

    Today, we drive from Battambang to the Cambodia’s capital city, Phnom Penh. Get a taste for Cambodia’s rural life and stop en route at Kompong Chnang to visit the floating village in Kompong Luong. Arrive in Phnom Penh in the afternoon and check in at your hotel. Enjoy some free time to relax then show your  bargaining skills on a walk through the city’s expansive “Russian Market” where you can find anything from motorcycle parts to valuable gems.

    Day 11 - Phnom Penh – Takeo – Kep

    Leave Phnom Penh, we drive to the seaside resort, Kep-sur-Mer- the favorite getaway of the French in the early 1900s. Have breakfast at the hotel then begin our journey southwards, making our first stop at Phnom Chisor Temple dating back from the 11th century. Climb the 500-step path to the top of the hill to enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Continue on to the quiet town of Takeo before taking a short cruise to Angkor Borei which is located just a few kilometers from the Vietnamese border. Here, we visit a small museum displaying several reproductions of sculptures from the nearby ruins and a selection of artifacts dating as far back to the 4th century. After visiting the museum, we continue on our boat trip to visit the pre-Angkorian temple, Phnom Da, and a nearby temple Asram Maharosei. Arrive in Kep in the evening and check in at the hotel.

    Day 12 - Kep – Rabbit Island – Kep

    we take a boat trip to Rabbit Island, just off the coast of Kep. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel then board a local boat for a 30min float to Rabbit Island.     Day 13 - Kep – Sihanouk Ville

We head toward Hoa Binh province, we pass through a region of spectacular limestone mountains, passes, valleys and wind our way down hills to Mai Chau valley of the Thai people. We will spend the afternoon to walk around the village, learn more about the Thai and experience their hospitality from our stay in their stilts house. Have dinner, try the rice wine drunk with a rod and enjoy the traditional dances. Sleep in their house.

    Day 2 - Mai Chau – Moc Chau - Son La (160 km)

    Today, we will drive about the same distance as we made to Mai Chau. The road to Son La is lined with fruit orchards, tea plantations, and towering mountains. It's chance to meet and talk to the black Thai, white Thai, H’mong and Muong hill tribe people on their way to work or local markets. In the afternoon, we visit the Prison Museum in Son La, which remains as a poignant reminder of the inequities of the former French colonial rule. Have dinner and sleep in the Cong Doan Hotel.

    Day 3 - Son La - Dien Bien Phu (170 km)

    The further we drive, the more impressive the mountain scenery will be. We will visit villages and meet more tribal people here along our journey to Dien Bien Phu city. Stop for lunch in Tuan Giao. Then go to Dien Bien and enjoy the wonderful scenery in Pha Din pass. Dien Bien Phu - the last base of the French power in Indochina. We will visit monuments, museums…and preserved bunkers will tell the story of the final and victorious liberating battle of 1954. Dinner and free to explore nightlife in this remote mountain city.     Day 4 - Dien Bien Phu – Lai Chau - Tam Duong (200 km)

    With about 6 – 7 hours, today we'll go to Lai Chau. Our drive is sometimes steep and often rugged, the road through the Lai Chau valley is both breathtaking and dramatic, hugging rice terraced mountainsides and fording turbulent rivers, our road travel are visually spectacular. On this day, you'll have a chance to see the most beautiful hill tribes in Northern Vietnam such as H'Mong, Black Thai, Black Dzao, and Pazi. Dinner and sleep in the town of Tam Duong.

    Day 5 - Tam Duong – Sapa

    A small walk around this peaceful town and the market before hitting the road up hills as we go to the Tram Ton pass- the highest mountain pass in Viet Nam. As rewarded, we will have the magnificent views of the great mountains, passes and valleys and experience a dramatic change of climate as we mount approaching Sapa – an old French hill station and a busy market town for the regional minority groups. The town is encircled with towering peaks and often shrouded in cloud. The air here is very cool and crisp. Check in a hotel with comfort and free to explore this famous town of Sapa.

    Day 6 - Sapa, trek and homestay

    (5-6 hours)Ride along the rugged but spectacular road down hills from Sapa, we will be dropped at the village of the Zay people. From here, we are trekking & hiking along the paddy fields and villages crossing streams. We'll end our trek today at a Tay village called Ban Ho where we will stay with on of the family here. A truly satisfying day will be filled with the insight and the beauty of nature.

    Day 7 - More trek and jeep back to Sapa, night train to Hanoi

  • Day 1 - Kuching Arrival

    Day 2 - Semenggoh Oragutan - Bako National Park

    Place Transport: Car

    In the morning, depart for Semenggoh Wildlife Centre located 24 kilometres from the center of Kuching. This orangutan rehabilitation centre trains orphaned or rescued orangutans how to survive in the wild. Over 20 orangutans live in the forest within the nature reserve and often return to the centre at feeding times. Upon arrival, head to the briefing area. After a brief talk from the rangers, take a short walk along a trail to the feeding area to watch the orangutans come down from the trees for a free meal. Observe the feeding of Orangutans requiring rehabilitation. Then continue your journey by road (about 1 hour) to Bako Village. From the village, take about a 25-minute boat ride (depending on the tide) to the park situated on a peninsula. Bako is one of the best places in Sarawak to see wildlife in a natural setting. The various types of animals that are commonly spotted at Bako include the proboscis monkeys, silver leaf monkeys, long-tailed macaques, wild boars, monitor lizards and numerous species of birds. Forest types range from mangrove to kerangas (heath forest), tropical swamp vegetation, cliff vegetation and beach vegetation. There are several trails to follow inside the park depending on level of fitness and interest. The park’s coastline is dotted with small bays, coves and beaches. After dinner, go for a night walk. Stay overnight at the park accommodation.

    Day 3 - Bako National Park - Kuching

    Following breakfast, depart for a final hike on one of the trails spotting rare migratory birds and searching for the rare and elusive proboscis monkey, a primate only found in Borneo. Return to Kuching mid-afternoon. Please note schedule may depend on tide.

    Day 4 - Kuching - Nanga Sumpai Longhouse

    Depart by air-conditioned van for Batang Ai reservoir (4½ hours). Journey overland through rural Sarawak, passing through pepper gardens, cocoa and rubber plantations. Enroute, a few stops will be made. Visit the colourful native market in Serian town where a variety of jungle produce such as edible ferns, bamboo shoots and unusual tropical fruit are on display. Visit a pepper garden and stop by to view wild orchids and several species of pitcher plants. Have lunch en route. Upon arrival at the Batang Ai reservoir, proceed by longboat (1-2 hours) upriver to Nanga Sumpa. Settle in at Borneo Adventure’s lodge. After dinner, proceed to the longhouse across the river. Relax on the ruai (common verandah) and spend time with the Iban people. Interact with the community, learn about their culture and enjoy some local rice wine. Stay overnight at the lodge.

    Day 5 - Nanga Sumpa - Enseluai Waterfall

    Following breakfast, hike the jungle trails along the river and continue upriver by longboat. Our destination is the scenic Enseluai Waterfall. Time to relax, swim and explore the rainforest or try fishing Iban-style. Return to the lodge. Dinner is served in the lodge with local delicacies to enhance the meal.     Start your day with a tour to the Cambodian countryside on which you will discover the 'gem' of the Angkor Baneat Srey. On the way, you will have the option to stop at local communities and your guide will help you to interact with the locals to learn about the way of life here.
    Continue north to Kbal Spean which is one of the earliest Hindu pilgrimage sites in Cambodia. A short 3 km trek up the hill through dense jungle will reward you with excellent views over the plains and the Kulen hills. During the rainy season, you can enjoy a refreshing bath in the waterfall, before having a picnic!
    From here, it is only a short drive to Wat Roun which is a traditional village in Cambodia. Here, in a clean and safe place on the premises of a picturesque temple, you will find your home for the night: A tented camp and you don't even have to cut back on amenities as our large tents are made to feel you at home away from home. A short trek will lead you up to the Phnom Bok Hill. In the evening, a local BBQ dinner will be prepared by your private chef at the camp andyou can enjoy in comfortable and stylish sitting areas. After dinner, a movie of our choice will be shown in the camp.
    Stay overnight in a tented camp at Watt Roun.

    Day 2 - Wat Roun - Siem Reap

    Get up early as you will be invited to witness the monks at Wat Roun. They will perform their morning rituals and you can later meet them personally. A private blessing ceremony will wish you good luck on your journey.
    In the mid-morning, continue going to Beng Mealea, .Undiscovered for centuries, Beng Mealea has only recently been made accessible and remains unrestored. It is one of the very few temples that actually gives the opportunity to climb through it.
    Continue going to Kampong Kleang. (NOTE: Due to low water levels during the dry season, the boat trip is only possible from June to February, but we can arrange an overland visit to Kampong Kleang that is an equally interesting experience, as you can walk among the stilted houses).
    Transfer back to Siem Reap.
